question about scar tissue?

Hi, i have just had my second c/s, and was suprised(probably quite nievely)that there was alot of scar tissue from my previous c/s. This meant the operation took alot longer to do and my spinal started to wear off prematurely.  Not something i would want to do again. The anethitist offered me a general, but i wanted to be awake so i put up with it and declined.

So my question is: if there is a next time, does the scar tissue just get worse if i have another c/s?, and therefore surgery more risky? or would it be better to try for a vbac2? to try and bypass this problem altogether?

thanks for any opinions, sar.

I would talk to your OB about what happened and what the prognosis is.

Much better to get indepth advice from the Dr who has been inside and done the work than getting generalist advice from the ‘net.

Hi,

I am curious too as I was told at my 2nd CS that I had a lot of scar tissue, but could still try for a 3rd baby & 3rd CS (just slightly more risks of adhesions attaching, something like that – I was still fairly out of it when I was asking.

I do remember though him saying that he ‘cut out’ most of the scar tissue, so I am guessing it depends on how much developed after my 2nd CS.

I was a public hospital and the OB doing the CS spoke about 2 sentences to me and only because I asked those questions, so I don’t have that avenue of finding out from him.

Good Luck !

Hi Danilelle, yes thats the problem i have too, as i was in a public hospital and didnt even think to ask the surgeon at the time, but its interesting to know that they can cut out some of the previous scar tissue. I guess in the public system the best you can do is to ask to see your records/paperwork of info from the actual birth.
